DHC:  So you are a model, surfer, artist, guitarist, actor... you seem to be one of the most talented hot chicks on the planet, how long have you been doing all of those things?  Tell us a little bit about your past.

Trisha:  Well first of all I am flattered by your accusations, lol. But, it is true I am all of those things, sometimes it is a blessing and at others a curse. Lets see, where to start, I was born an artist into an artistic family so the art is the only way I know how to express myself and the only way the world makes sense to me. I am a singer, songwriter, guitarist and I spend most of my free time doing that. I am a single momma so I have to be tricky with my time which is also an art form. Music is my life I eat, sleep and breath with music. Next I am an actor and artist. I love film and the opportunity it allows me to become a different character, a new perspective. It is like super ramped up modeling. I am super picky about what photo shoots I do now, I am bored as hell doing the cliche maxim model poses and looking sexy for the camera... I want to kick ass and stare the camera down as a woman, an artist and sure sexy too. As an artist I work in many mediums from oil on canvas, graffiti art on skateboards, inks, graphics to photography... I like to create visuals. I have been doing art as a child and always will :)

As far as the surfer part, well besides that it is just flat out fun and thrill of being able to ride the ocean, I am super addicted to the sea and to adrenaline. I think surfing saved my life. As a child and teenager I grew up with a lot of pain and trauma, Surfing grounded me and taught me how to be strong and also that I am as much a part of the sea as the world around me. I connected with the ocean and it became my lover, my best friend, my father, my mother and the place where I was excepted exactly as I was.. I try and surf as much as the swell allows and go on surf trips internationally as much as possible :) I chase waves.

DHC:  When did you get your first tattoo?  Do you think they are addictive?

Trisha I got my first tattoo when I was living on Oahu, it is a sunrise sea shell on my ankle. I have added to it since then but it still there. I  knew that I wanted tattoos the moment I saw my first fully sleeved tattooed asian woman at a store. I was an eight year old girl and I thought it was so beautiful,  she looked so strong, I knew at that moment that I was going to grow up and get tattoos. So, for me I guess they are addicting but I never thought I wouldn't have them :)

DHC:  What type of artist are you?

Trisha:  I am pretty diverse with my art. I work with a lot of different mediums so it is hard to pin point. As my mediums change so does the style and content. I do paint a lot of portraits of women. I think women are so beautiful and so much stronger then we give them credit for. I try and present women the way I see them and also the way the world sees them. I also love ink works in an art nouveau style as well as macabre darker pieces. Art is my brain on display.

DHC:   Biggest wave you have ever ridden?

Trisha:  I love surfing large waves! I lived on the north shore for three years so I had my fair share of solid surfing there and also when I visit or head down to Central America. I think the biggest day I was out catching as many waves as possible was about 18-22 feet. At 5'4 they feel like monsters. I have been out in tow in surf as well but I was doing videography from the back of a jet ski as we towed in the big boys. It was crazy big for me and amazing. I would say that the waves were about 30-40  feet. My favorite size to just have fun is when the surf is between 6 and 14 feet. Depending on the type of wave and swell.

Mickey Rourke Loves Him Some Trisha Lurie!

DHC:  Worst date ever?

Trisha:  Oh god I have quite a few. One time I met this guy at magic mountain and he seemed cool and we had some friends in common. I was about 16 he was like 22 or something. Okay so date night rolls around and he picks me up at my house. Super sweet guy and everything but he has this bright yellow sports car which he modiffied with a giant larger then life spoiler ( you would have to be going at least 350 mph. or maybe have a car that flies for it to be helpful) it was higher then the roof and it had loud as hell exhaust (back in the day when that was cool haha) So, everyone had to look when he drove by because it was so damn loud. And of course he wasn't as cute without his hat on and his windows were tinted too dark to drive with them up so we had to keep the windows down. I did not want to be seen in this ride, I know it sounds superficial but at 16 you care about that shit. Anyway he proceeded to drive around and I swear to god, for some reason at every stop sign or traffic light somebody I knew was next to us laughing at me. I felt so bad for the guy! Maybe his ride was cool in his neighborhood but not this one.
So, finally we get to the movie and he has his friends meet us, it was lame. All of the sudden I was crammed in between a bunch of dudes watching some dude flick getting soda and popcorn all over me. Of course the date didn't stop there because I was reminded by all who saw me for weeks after... oh well. For the longest time I wanted to know what the guy drove before I agreed to a date. I got over it but at the time I was traumatized. To be honest I have been on a lot of bad dates... lol

DHC:  When did you start modeling?

Trisha:  I started modeling at 17 or so and moved to hawaii, I did bikini and fashion stuff. When I came back to LA I took a little break had my son. Soon after that I missed the process so I got back into it but this time I took it more serious. So I have been hitting it pretty hard over the last 5 years or so.

DHC:  You seem like a thinker... favorite quotes or philosophy you want to drop on us?

Trisha:  It is hard to singe out one quote, I love so many but as far a philosophy. I make a daily effort to remember that there is no past, there is no tomorrow, we only have this moment. This moment is your life. You are here because you created this moment and the type of life you lead is all about what you think, what you do and what you feel at this very moment. Since we alone are responsible for our energy and the perspective we chose to take in and react to, every new moment is an opportunity to be happy, positive and live this life as if it were your last moment and because this moment is the only moment you have for certain.

DHC:  How does a man impress you?

Trisha:  Well, I think it is really impressive when a man listens to the clues a woman sends out to let them know what she is into and then surprises her with them. Most women say things to give the guy a clear path to their heart, we want to be romanced, we try to make it easy, however we wont directly ask for it because then it doesn't count. Most guys don't see the clues, they are too self involved. So when a man clues in then he is saying...I was listening and you are important to me, well in my opinion... that is very impressive. I love flowers, handwritten notes, picnics, pedicures, little gifts that say, I want you to feel special because I feel special to be your man...
However, I think the most important thing is compelling conversation, that is damn impressive to me.. talk to me about something that actually means something and I am turned on. I am also drawn to artist whether it is music, film, art etc.. I am impressed by people who follow their dreams.

DHC:  How often do you get to surf?

Trisha:  I try an surf as much as possible when there is a swell I will usually surf every day of the swell because we don't get that great of surf in LA, It can be amazing but you have to wait a bit sometimes. If I could have it my way I would surf at least 4 days a week.

DHC:  What if you favorite picture of yourself?

Trisha:  I don't know if I have a favorite photo, I have been so lucky to shoot with some amazing photographers from around the planet.

DHC:   Favorite movie?

Trisha:  I love film... Could never name a favorite movie.. I love action flicks, thrillers, dramas, comedy, psychological, independent, foreign, vintage  etc...

DHC:  Male celebrity that you would want to hook up with?

Trisha:  hmmm..I don't recall.

DHC:  Major turnoffs?

Trisha:  I have quite a few but here are some...
religious freaks, name droppers, when guys keep their ex-lovers around in their life as friends or accountancies, who are you fooling, you two are not going to be bros. now.. When people keep those relationships around it is for a reason and it is a major turn off to me. I understand sometimes there are significant relationships in which you truly just become friends but fuck buddies don't need to stick around, unless you intend on sleeping with them again...There are plenty of cool people to be friends with or do your taxes etc.. If your significant other keeps their ex-lovers around just to chit chat on face book or txt, you should watch your back, haha. I would lol.
Lets see what else... ego monsters, when people bite their fork or spoon, guys that talk about their penis size.... okay and one more, this is more of a comment to the men out there.
Try your hardest to not get those wondering eyes when your with your girl or on a date, she knows exactly what your doing and you might be blowing the one real chance you have of getting laid that night, haha. The cute girl at the other table or walking across the street is probably not going to jump in your lap. So pay attention to the one your with. You don't need to do the up and down check list glance if you're not taking that trip.. It seems simple right :)

DHC:  Favorite musical artists?

Trisha:  Again too many to name just one so here are a few. Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins, Dylan, White Stripes, Silversun Pickups, Cash, Foo Fighters, Muse, NIN., Tool, Alice in Chains, Janes Addiction, Massive Attack, The Mars Volta, Violent Femms, Radio Head, Hendrix, Marley, Incubus, Pink Floyd, STP, Tegan and Sara, Tom Waits, Yeah Yeah Yeahs oh god I could go on forever...
